NIGHTMÅNE opens the bedroom door with their second 2022 release ‘REVIVE’ and gives us a sensual rollercoaster of both power and submission. Singer Anthony Starble invites you into a sexual place we so often hide from where dark desires are brought to light, reviving what has been forgotten or suppressed. The chorus hook ‘I’m gonna make you revive’ is echoed by the lines ‘put your power right on me’ and ‘take control of my body’, playing with how we perceive power. It’s his submission that makes his partner revive in exploring their own dominance. Producer Sigurd Heimdal creates a dark soundscape with buzzy bass tones and a hollow snare sound a la Depeche Mode to transport the listener to an industrial space, a perfect backdrop for the BDSM undertones in the lyrics. NIGHTMÅNE gives us another memorable melody showcasing their songwriting prowess in a modern, dark synth-pop anthem.
